Why would you time lights that you can make from the previous light, but only if you floor it? It seems like you would be inviting hyper aggressive driving...

I hear you........I have a fairly short commute, I used to be a really aggresive driver but as I’ve grown older (56) I just leave a few minutes early and drive right at 60 mph (speed limit is 55 on the stretch of highway I use).
It’s just not worth the stress.
At 60 mph, 95% of everyone goes faster then I do and I just hang out in the slow lane....but my commute is only 10 or 15 minutes.

Funnily enough, I’ve just started a new job that requires a rush-hour commute (albeit not a bad one), and I’ve actually calmed my driving down a whole lot. I just leave plenty of time, put the radio on, and go with the flow. Sure, I might miss a light here or there, or miss the opportunity to pass somebody, but I’ve found that it’s not the being slow that winds me up, it’s the pressure of trying to be fast.
It depends a bit on what I’m driving, though. My daily-driver 850R, for all its excess of power, isn’t all that quick off the line, and prefers just to waft along smoothly around town, saving its blistering, turbo-laggy acceleration for open highways. The Scirocco, on the other hand, is small and loud and angry, and since you really need to wring it out to get up to speed, there’s a certain amount of adrenaline built up that expresses itself in a much more impatient driving style.

It does. I can put up with the red-red-red cycle just so long, and then I WILL chase a stale yellow to break the cycle.

You would have a good time with me yesterday. 1 hour 45 minutes to go about 30 miles on a freeway lol.
